The Nexus Warehouse
Overview
The Nexus Warehouse is a per-corp storage facility accessible from any Nexus sector. It solves the bootstrapping problem — starter ships have limited cargo capacity, but building a new ship chassis requires thousands of mass units of materials. The warehouse lets you stockpile resources, components, modules, alloys, and chassis outside your ship cargo.
Each corp gets one warehouse. You can deposit and withdraw from any Nexus sector as long as your fleet is docked and idle.
Storage Tiers
Free Tier
Your first 10,000 mass units are stored at no cost with no time limit. Items in the free tier stay indefinitely until you withdraw them.
Paid Tier
Once you exceed 10,000 mass, additional deposits enter the paid tier:
- Rate: 1 credit per mass unit per day
- Prepaid deposit: When depositing, you specify a pickup window (minimum 1 day). The full cost (mass × days) is charged upfront from your corp credits.
- Refunds: If you withdraw early, the remaining unused deposit is refunded to your corp.
Depositing Items
- Dock at a Nexus sector — Your fleet must be idle (not in transit or queued)
- Choose an asset — Select a boxed asset from your ship's cargo hold
- Specify pickup window — Only required for paid tier deposits; sets how many days of storage you're prepaying
- Deposit — The asset is moved from ship cargo to the warehouse
If the deposit would stay within the free tier cap, no credits are charged and no pickup window is needed.
Withdrawing Items
- Dock at a Nexus sector — Fleet must be idle
- Choose a stored asset — Select from your warehouse contents
- Withdraw to a ship — Specify the ship and cargo module to receive the item
- Collect refund — Paid tier items refund any remaining prepaid deposit
Auto-Promotion
When you withdraw items and your total stored mass drops below the free tier cap, paid items are automatically promoted to the free tier (oldest first). Promoted items receive a refund of their remaining deposit. This means you're never paying for storage you don't need.
Daily Billing
Paid tier items are billed daily. Each day, the system deducts 1 credit per mass unit from your corp balance for each paid item.
What Happens If You Run Out of Credits
If your corp can't cover a daily billing charge:
- Grace period starts — You have 3 days to add credits to your corp
- Grace period expires — If still unpaid after 3 days, the asset is permanently deleted
Monitor your warehouse regularly to avoid losing items to expired grace periods.
Integration with Other Systems
Shipyard
The shipyard can pull materials directly from your warehouse when building ships. You don't need to withdraw components to your cargo first — the build order will source from both cargo and warehouse.
Market
When listing items for sale on the Nexus Market, assets can be sourced from your warehouse. Sold items are transferred directly from warehouse storage.
Tips
- Use the free tier for long-term stockpiling — 10,000 mass is enough for roughly one small chassis build worth of materials
- Keep pickup windows short for paid storage — you can always deposit again if needed, and shorter windows mean less credit risk
- Withdraw before your grace period expires — once an asset is deleted, it's gone permanently
- Check your warehouse contents regularly — especially if you have paid tier items, to track billing and grace periods
